This advanced-level PFAS course focuses on the design of drinking water treatment systems using modelling tools. Granular activated carbon (GAC) and ion exchange processes will be evaluated using freely available modelling approaches to support system design and performance assessment.

Anion exchange is an emerging and highly effective technology for PFAS removal in drinking water treatment systems, offering strong performance even at short contact times.
This course also examines key operational impacts, including changes to chlorination processes and potential effects on distribution system water quality such as pH, alkalinity, and corrosion potential.

Ozone is a powerful disinfectant and oxidant used for the inactivation of pathogens such as Cryptosporidium and the removal of taste and odour compounds.
This course covers key aspects of ozone system design, operation, and performance optimization in drinking water treatment applications.
